Chocolate = Chaacklate
New Year = Noo Yer

May you all have a Vary Hay P Noo Yer :)

p.s. More words will be added to the list as I hear anyone using them. Bookmark the link of the post to keep updated :p

Randomness redefined !!!

This pic is mistaken, I don't have such biceps :p
That white thing is my Persian cat ♥
As the title says, this post is totally random. Main purpose behind this post is to show how I spend my time at home, in pyjamas or shorts.

I have been criticised many times and by many people about my dressing or fashion sense. I have a simple reply to it. I don't care about fashion or dressing, I just like myself the way I am. Its all easy for me in trousers and shorts. I wear jeans very less, mostly while going for classes or special gatherings. I've been criticised about colour combinations, I still don't care about it. I just take out a shirt, wear it and go out. Never ever think about it twice. Hairstyle, I've been fond of long hair always. Because of school and other restrictions, never had long hair but I did manage to grow them till my collar in June. And now, as you can see, my hair always remain messy or disturbed. Whenever I have to go out, I just put up my United cap and it all settles well.

I never liked wearing watches, bands or stuff. Cell phones made it easy for time checking, so the excuse for watch remained no more. People spend so much money on perfumes or deodorants, I wear them once in a blue moon, mostly when I'm going for a wedding or special gathering with friends. I know some people (guys) who spend so much on facials, beauty products and spend hours in salons, I don't care about oddly grown facial here or as said earlier, messy hairstyle.

Moving on to food, I'm a foodie but at times, I've strange taste. I don't like ketchup, mayonnaise or other sauces. When it comes to burgers or fried chicken, I like the original thing, I don't go for extras. I can have chocolate with anything. Just two days ago I was laughed at after I said that I'll be having Zinger with Hot Chocolate. My meal is incomplete without meat, any type of meat and when I've nothing to eat ( what I like), I just half-fry an egg and have it with bread. my day is incomplete if I don't have an egg.

Like me or not, I might remain like this forever.

I am what I am and I'm proud of what I am !! Problem?! Leave.

With all these weird facts about me, I'm proud of myself for the fact that I've never had a cigarette or a single puff of shisha. I've never had a single chhaliya or other bad stuff such as Gutka.

According to the title, I think mischief has been managed :p

p.s. Happy New Year :)

Fast and Furious

Let me first tell you that I'm the only driver at my home. I've been driving for more than 3 years now and I'm not yet allowed to drive alone. No one else knows a thing about driving at my home, but every time I drive, I've been consistently instructed on how to drive and what to do.

So coming back to the point, yesterday, late night my uncle suddenly called and we planned to drive to Clifton to Abdullah Shah Ghazi's Mazaar. Rather taking the normal route, we chose the Lyari Express Way. Clam and quiet, what a fast drive it was. Reaching 100 Kmph in a car that is unaligned was a great experience. The steering kept wobbling and the control was difficult.

Any ways, we reached our destination, did Fatiha, had a Qulfi and after it, the real thing began. Just as we touched Shahah e Faisal from Kala Pul, the race began. Shahrah e Faisal became a race track for us. I had my mother and grandmother sitting with me. All I heard during the whole journey was "Zain, Slow !!", "Zain, are you deaf??", "Zain, what's the point of going that fast?". But a driver can tell how much thrilling it was, cutting between the cars and buses, one hand on the horn and keeping up with the other car.

There were also moments when the car was bumping because of the road, some emergency breaks, and heart in mouth moments. Overall it was such a splendid drive with thrills and action. Loved every bit of it !!!

Dream Girl

Kabhi to milay gi, kahin to milay gi, aaj nahin to kal, Dream Girl !!!

Just for the time pass. This post may cross all the limits of lameness, so please keep your feelings inside yourself, I'd not like to be on their receiving end :D

As the title says, the post describes my dream girl. The features are set out below :
  1. Waist long hair FTW.
  2. Passion for education/studies. The girl who has been a high achiever in her school is the one in my dreams.
  3. Wears Hijab <3
  4. Foodie. If she's a good cook, we'll make a great couple because I like cooking too.
  5. A girl who likes to be simple. The girl who's happy without makeup. (As a matter of fact, no girl in this world is happy without makeup :p). Girl who does what she wants.
  6. Girl who can do shopping very fast. I hate it when I have to just roam around in the mall for hours and comes home without even a single bag.
  7. Colour: I don't like milky, colourless blondes. Chocolaty colour FTW.
  8. A girl who's cosy, isn't too much possessive.
  9. The girl who's into the melodious music of 90s and 80s.
There were so many things but they're not coming in my mind at the moment.

Now you're allowed to call me Chhichhora, maila, flirt, despo, no lifer or whatever, I won't care. It was just for some fun and time pass

p.s. Ladies, do fill that form ;)

Politics

I don't really support any particular political party but it is a fact that I'd like to see anyone else other than Zardari in the President's office.

Everyone is well aware of the decade long dictatorships in the history of Pakistani politics and I liked Musharraf's tenure. Though, he lost it near the end, the Lal Masjid operation and issues with judiciary, but it was in his tenure that Pakistan started to develop. The CNG sector, telecommunication sector, development of Electronic Media and everything else.

It was Musharraf's idea of local bodies which revived Karachi. Mustafa Kamal surely deserve all the respect for the way he has made Karachi what it is today. The infrastructure he has provided, all the signal free corridors, the way he worked all night during the monsoon season, jobs he provided to Karahites and there are many more things to be described, for which he deserves respect. Karachi Tips explains it like this.

Back to the politics, MQM lost all the respect I had for them after they became part of the current government. Moreover, their resignations from the cabinet and then taking them back after a couple of months has made me flush all the respect I had for them.

Everyone today has been speaking of the change. The change can only happen if only fair elections are held.
As per my recent experience and what I heard, when my father voted last time, a person was standing beside the ballot box, advising him to mark the stamp on a certain box. While Musharraf held the referendum, my brother who was just around 5 years old, voted too.

To wrap it up, we've been tired of seeing these familiar faces again and again. We need change now, and for the change, we, the youth, are supporting Imran Khan all the way. It was Immy K who won Pakistan the Cricket WorldCup for the first time, now it'll be Immy K to rescue Pakistan from these corrupt and criminal rulers. Imran Khan FTW.

p.s. Guys, check this out. Here's a tip for you if you wanna impress a Karachite girl these days :p

The beautiful 90s

I feel lucky to have been born on the brink of the last decade of the 20th century. It gives me bragging rights to have lived in two centuries and two millenniums, but the beauty of the 90s were the simple and calm life. People were not dependant on machines and gadgets as they are now.

As I spent my childhood in the 90s, let me begin with cartoons. We had Tom and Jerry, Popeye, Ninja Turtles, Pink Panther, Loony Tunes, Captain Planet, SWAT Kats, Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Fantastic Four, and many more. Kids today, are deprived of such classics. All they watch is the battling 'so-called' super heroes and the same thing is repeated in every other cartoon.

Moving on to the games, we were there to play Super Mario on Nintendo or Atari consoles and then SEGA came. For a Cricket lover like me, Brian Lara 96/99 was the perfect game to play. Who can forget Sonic, the Hedgehog? There were Snow Bros, Tekken, Street Fighter, one of the best games ever.

The SEGA Genesis console
If the games and cartoons were awesome, I am out of words to describe the TV shows. I grew up being a PTV kid, never had a satellite/cable TV connection at my home. In the 90s, PTV was at its peak. Everyday, I used to wake up for the school with the music of the cartoon. Back from school, the Pakistani version of  Sesame Street (Khul Ja Sim Sim), other children shows and Ainak Wala Jin was there everyday for the fun.

Ainak Wala Jin featuring Bil Batori (Top Left), Hamoon(Top Right), Nastoor(Bottom Left) and Zakoota (Bottom Right)
Movies now, I still remember how we watched the movies. We used to borrow the movie cassettes for the weekends and the whole family was up for it. Movies (Indian basically) were clean and enjoyable with families. I remember that every month or two, when we planned for a movie, the VCR was taken out from the closet, wrapped in clothes and the head was then cleaned. During the movie playback, sometimes the tape had to be removed and fixed because the VCR malfunctioned. Any ways, with all those difficulties, it was a fun to watch movies with the family and special gatherings were held for this purpose. Kuch Kuch Hota hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatain, Khal Nayak and Andaaz Apna Apna are my all time favourite movies.

For all those who don't know what a VCR was !!

I was always fond of Indian music and there'll be many people to second me that the music quality in the 90s was the best. They cannot make such melodious songs now. The romantic ones, the sad ones, they all were catchy. I don't really go for the music, I listen to the lyrics and those 90s songs had way better lyrics than today's. The lyrics were not vulgar and did justice with every age group.

Skipping to gadgets and technology, we witnessed the Windows 95 and the best operating software ever, Windows 98. No other operating software can beat Win 98 with its user friendliness. We didn't have mobile phones and fast internet but always kept in touch with our loved ones through telephone. We have saved data on Floppy Disks, we waited for the camera films to be developed after family gatherings such as weddings and birthday parties,  we didn't have Wi-Fi, we had Dial up Modems and we witnessed the first Pentium.

To sum up the discussion, the life in 90s was a simple and calm life. There was more fun in doing things because people were not very much dependant on machines and stuff, things were done with collaboration and together with families. Proud to be a 90s kid <3

Karachified !!

All credit to Swaleha Ahmed for the first report on the first meetup of KarachiTips Blog Team, now recognised as 'Karachifiers' as decided there. As a true Karachite, any one of the co-owners were not on time for the meeting. Any ways, we were soon joined by the two co-owners AbdullahBilal and the rest of the members of the team.

It began with Abdullah and Bilal telling us about how they started Karachi Tips and the difficulties they faced at the start. Soon we were also joined by the the 3rd and final co-owner, Baakh and the discussion really begun. After all the intro and the story of the establishment of Karachi Tips, we were also told about how to make the tips and the ideas behind them. Just for some fun and experience, we were divided in three teams and were asked to produce some tips, which were scheduled to be published on the page tonight.

The amazing trio of Baakh, Abdullah and Bilal.
As the tips were discussed and short listed to be published, the team name was decided, and it was decided 'Karachifiers' as described earlier. Saad Saeed (The official photographer of the event) and Muhammad Ali were picked to be given free Tees for suggesting the team name.

All the suggestions that were put forward for the team name, read the first one as KUTAS :D
Continuing with the proceedings, we started sharing our ideas of how we could be different from anyone else and make Karachi Tips a brand. There were ideas of telling the world (and even Karachites) about Secrets of Karachi (the things still unknown to many people about Karachi), promoting the hidden talent in Karachi, organising events and how to raise awareness about this blog, the development of bumper stickers/notebooks, how Karachi Tips could be promoted by the team members in their institutes/universities and the current goal was decided to reach 40,000 fans by the end of January, 2012.

As for the long term goal, I suggested to make it such a brand that in 4-5 years' time, visitors from abroad or even when Pakistanis wants to search anything about Karachi, the first result on Google or any other search engine should be karachitips.com

So we had lunch (Pizza mufta FTW) after the ideas were shared and just as we were opening up the Pizza boxes, we were joined by the FM 100 RJ Umm e Kulsoom (what timing I must say :p) and shortly after, the guy from Oh Bhains !Hammad Ilyas joined us too.

Pizza FTW
After the lunch, we began from where we left and the ideas were shared again. The screenshot of the website was revealed by Baakh and the layout was discussed too. As much as I remember, it had the KT traditional yellowish theme, designed mostly with the Truck art of Karachi. Speaking of Truck Art, Umm e Kulsoom started telling the names of the buses she has travelled in and was soon joined by others too. An idea was put forward to place the 'Naqaab Posh Haseena' (as seen on many Trucks, Buses or Rickshaws), lets see what the designers decide.

A glimpse of the website

After the website was revealed, we again broke into teams according to the roles we applied for to be part of the blog. My team, the writers', was headed by Umm e Kulsoom, photographers with Baakh and Designers and Marketeers were headed by Abdullah and Bilal.

The ideas kept coming and in the end, the writers' team had put up all topics related to Karachi that we can write articles on, into 6 separate categories. They were related to food, people, attractions, secrets, humour/comics and fashion trends.

So it all finished some 30 minutes before 4:00 PM and we had group photos then. The photographers tried their best to snap a crazy pic of the group, but no one was up for it. To wrap it up, we all signed a banner and shared free chocolates, thanks to Sadiya Azhar.

A glimpse of the banner that was signed at the end
It was quite fun attending the meetup because I learnt so many lessons from it. One being that I will never ever trust Facebook display pics again :p !!

There were a couple of awkward moments too, once when Bilal had a slip of tongue (mentioned in the group by Hira) and another when Abdullah fell off his chair while deciding the team name.

The awkward moment when Abdullah fell down :p

Overall, it was all fun and we're looking forward to work with them. First, lets just bring 40k fans to Karachi Tips and start the blog with a bang !

Group photo of all the attendants
p.s. Tried to compile the report in a serious and the most professional manner I can, but looks like I failed. Looking forward for your comments and suggestions :)

Random

While standing in front of a hospital  window enjoying the cool breeze, I thought of this post. Well its just a pointless post and I've no idea what I'll be writing. So as I continued enjoying the breeze, I was thinking about all the things I've heard and read about love, people being cheated or used for someone's purpose and then they are left sad, thinking about it all the night, listening to sad songs and doing things like their world has ended. Most of them are the friendships over the internet, they've never met each other and within months of talking, they think they are in love. Same goes for the SMS people, they somehow exchange numbers and within 2 to 3 months, they think they love each other.

On the contrary, there are people like me, who waste years on the person they have a crush on, because they are just too afraid to tell them about their feelings and wait for a better moment. Well, that being said, dude that moment will never come and you'll keep waiting for your entire life. What I've learned is that just do it. Don't think about the consequences or anything else, because if you don't do it now, you'll regret it for your lifetime !!

Back to the first one , this virtual love is mostly seen between teenagers who are yet to reach puberty and some grown ups who for the first time starts talking to a girl. You better spend something and go out with your partner and know them completely, this SMS or MSN won't work. Even if you do carry on for long term, there'll be one day when one of you will say 'you are not that old ****** now, I loved him/her.'

Advice: Please don't tame the beauty of the word 'Love' with your childish behaviour, the quantity of people is very scarce who knows what TRUE LOVE is !!

I tried to keep this post serious but I think I failed because I've been turned into a Joker because of some people's love for good sense of humour.

p.s. All these analysis were done after solving atleast 5 relationship problems and because of that, never had time for myself to be indulged in one :P Forever Single B-)

KarachiTips All the Way 2 :D

This post is a sequel to KarachiTips All The Way :D.

Friday, 16th December, was not a very good day for me. I had a BBQ party at a friend's place next day and I wanted to go because I have been sitting at home, doing nothing in front of this screen for more than 4 months now, but my parents didn't allow me. I had a moment with them and was trying to indulge myself with some movie to shrug off the bad mood and then KarachiTips updated their status asking those who filled the form to be a part of their blog to check their emails.

Before I describe it further, it was on 8th December that they asked everyone on their page if anyone is interested. Just been back from my exam, I filled that form without any hope that I'll be selected, considering my English grammatical errors and lack of vocabulary. (Thanks to the person who designed the spell checker  :P)

Back to 16th December and as described earlier that I was all angry, I checked my mail box and it was a surprise. I was selected and was one of those first three people to join the group (created to bring all the people that have been selected and get them introduced to each other). Within two days, I became such good friends with some people in the group, it seems like I've known them for ages now. We are spending our nights on the chat, pulling each other's legs and doing other fun activities. Yes we are Karachiites and we roll like that (H)

If you're on Twitter, you should be following the Fantastic Four [Ali YousufSaad SaeedSwaleha Ahmad (She was my 100th follower too) and Zain Bin Imran (that's me :p)] You'd simply love to have our tweets on your timeline (=

Coming back to the point and the surprise that I got, I still don't know on what grounds I've been selected. Maybe because of this :p

On that same day, I realised that they have acknowledged my tip too :p
Thank you AbdullahBilal and Baakh Nusrat for considering me a part of this group. Looking forward to work with you and make the best use of all the time spent in front of this screen :) Anxiously waiting for the meetup on Saturday.

Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal 28/8/2011 All goals

I just don't want to praise the English FA. I waited for four hours for my video to be uploaded, wrote that I have no intentions to infringe any copyrights but it was blocked soon as it completed processing :@

Here it is now, enjoy the goals.

1. Danny Welbeck makes it 1.0 after a beautiful chip from Anderson

There was no stopping after the first goal. Ashley Young scores his first goal in United colours, and what a beauty that was <3

Wayne Rooney started the match on 149 goals for United. What a way to bring up the 150th.

Arsenal got one back on the brink of half time through Theo Walcott. I think De Gea should have done better with this one.

At the half time, Arsenal would have thought that they are back in the game but United started the second half in the same way they did the first. if the first one from Rooney was good, this was the best.

Nani made it 5 with a sublime finish.

Its United vs Arsenal, how could Park Ji Sung miss the net? He gets his customary goal against Arsenal too.

After 6, Robin Van Persie got one back as a consolation and as a sympathy for his penalty miss.

But it was Rooney's day, and he completed his hattrick in style !!!

To put the final nail in Arsenal's coffin, Ashley Young ended the afternoon as he started it, in sheer style.

FINAL SCORELINE
MANCHESTER UNITED 8-2 ARSENAL

p.s. I hope no one blocks them here, spent almost 6 hours for them to edit first and then upload.

Defining Glory Hunter !!

Last week, the early hours of  Thursday were so bad for a Manchester United supporter. After winning a Champions League and playing in two finals in 6 years, United were knocked out from the competition after the matches for group stages were completed which was never thought after looking at their recent domestic and European form and were relegated to the second tier Europa League, regarded as Mickey Mouse league or you can call it with any other name, but the worst part were the glory hunters who came out of their shadow and started swearing at the players and the man who has been in charge for 25 years now.
That is a life of a Glory Hunter.

Let me define a glory hunter first. A glory hunter is the person who does not know a single thing about the 'beautiful game' and starts supporting a team that has been consistently winning major honours. And when the team lose, as United lost last week, they show their true colours.

Speaking of a United fan, the first thing they say is 'Its all Glazer's fault, LUHG.' No dude, its not the Glazer's fault. I hate them like all other fans because they are the reason why we have so much of debt upon the club but they are not the one who are playing on the field. They gave Sir Alex as much as he wanted to pay for the player in summer and we bought them.

Next up, I don't remember last time we signed a big player. United never bought a big player, it made them big. Playing for United has been a highlight for their career. You say about Ronaldo, it was United and Sir Alex who made Ronaldo what he is today and here's a proof of what Sir Alex said about him the first time we played against Ronaldo.
"After we played Sporting last week, the lads in the dressing room talked about him constantly, and on the plane back from the game they urged me to sign him. That's how highly they rated him."

Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, we made them all, we didn't buy them. The one's who buy big players can only buy trophies by spending millions of money, we win them by developing our youth. The class of 92 is the greatest example of it !!

No.3, Fergie's tactics are useless, the man in senile. Out with Fergie." For your information, that man has been there for the past 25 years and has won 12 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 2 Champions League, 6 Community shields, 4 League Cups, FIFA Club World Cup including a treble and became the first manager to complete a hattrick of Premier League titles. It was his tactics because of that we beat Arsenal 8-2 earlier in the season. I know he got wrong with the City one, but it doesn't mean he should quit now. He knocked Liverpool off their f**king perch and now he'll show City that money can't buy everything. Long live Sir Alex Ferguson :)

I cannot watch this any more: That's where the glory hunter starts to reveal. As a United supporter, we always believe that anything can happen in the dying minutes aka FERGIE TIME because of the United's 'never say die' attitude. Even the match against City, I didn't turn off my TV or change the channel. It was frustrating to watch but I love every single minute that my team plays.

I've always loved the way Barca/Real play: The glory hunter has completely revealed himself when he says that. Barcelona and Real Madrid are no doubt great teams, but the Spanish La Liga is not much competitive and physical as the Premier League. The competition is only between these two teams and because of their winning, a glory hunter is always pleased to watch them play and eventually at the end, the Glory hunter turns his loyalty to the team that has been consistently winning. The cycle starts again when United is back on winning terms.

It hurts to say this glory hunters, but the fans who have been supporting Liverpool and Man City since ages, they are much better than you. They have a belief that one day their team will win.

Enough with the glory hunters, there are some fans who call themselves TRUE FANS because they go to Old Trafford to watch there. You have every right to criticise United about their play because you work your ass off and pay to watch them there but we, living abroad, are as much passionate as you are. We leave all our work, fight with siblings and cancel our plans to sit and watch the match. Even where the time difference is too much, we sit whole night and watch every minute our team plays.

Scousers, don't be happy by reading the lines above, here's something that you'd always hate to read
